1.)Greed: What is the most expensive book in your library, and what is the most inexpensive?
My wonderful Sociology textbook this semester cost me $322.00 because we had to have the new edition, instead of being able to buy it used! They changed a few words around, jacked up the price, and told us poor college students to deal with it! haha Gotta love jackass professors!
As for the least expensive, I buy a lot of my books from Half.com, which usually ends up being a little under $3 per book. You honestly cannot beat that price, and you can find pretty much any book in existence on there! I just spent about $100 there last week and I'm still waiting on my truckload of books to come! Woohoo!
2.)Wrath: Which author do you have a love/hate relationship with?
This question is pretty easy for me. Mr. Nicolas Sparks is, hands down, the author that I love to hate. If any of you ladies have read any book by him, you will understand what I mean. He is an amazing romance author, and sometimes, I need that mind-numbing, pointless romance in my life. But Mr. Sparks has other ideas in mind. He must have gotten his heart broken, ripped out, and stomped on by a woman he was in love with at some point throughout his life. He needs to make us cry. I'm not talking, cute, quiet, tears-drip-down-your-face crying. This is more like uncontrollable sobbing. To the point where you can't even begin to read another line because your eyes are vomiting tears at an unhealthy rate. And I have a nagging feeling that he enjoys doing this to women. Look at that smile ladies, he knows that he just shoved a knife into our hearts and twisted it... Sigh. Yes, avoid Mr. Sparks at all costs ladies!
3.)Gluttony: What book have you deliciously devoured over and over again, with no remorse whatsoever?
I don't often read a book over and over again. I hate to admit this, but I honestly cannot even recall how many times I read Twilight. The series came out at a point in my life where I had given up reading. My absolutely favorite author at the time, Anne Rice, had given up writing her gothic vampire chronicles (gasp, I know) and found Christianity. Good paranormal books were hard to come by, and then Miss. Myers thought up Twilight. I was instantly hooked, and I'm not too ashamed to admit that! The series threw me back into the 'read everything I can get my hands on' mind-frame, and for that, I am eternally thankful to Miss Myers. Will I ever read it again? Meh, probably not. But the series did more for me than I can ever begin to explain!
4.)Sloth: What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?
Ha! A lot of them! My TBR pile is enormous, and I feel like I never get very far through it because I am always adding new, delicious sounding books that I stumble across!
I'm going to have to go with The Percy Jackson Series and the Throne of Glass Series because both have been recommended, and then recommended again to me by numerous bloggers. Yet I still haven't gotten around to reading any books from either series. I know, I need to climb out from under the rock that I've been hiding under and read these books already! Sadly, I'm pretty sure I own the entire Percy Jackson series too! haha (:
5.)Pride: What book do you most talk about in order to sound like a very intellectual reader?
One of my lit professors last semester had us read Dante's The Divine Comedy, which is a three part, insane book written in lyrical prose. It has Inferno, Paradisio, and Purgatorio all in the same book. She also had us read
Plato's The Republic. I will throw both of those books out there in conversation from time to time. Honestly, the looks I get, you would think I kicked someone's puppy. "Plato understood that his Allegory of the Cave was, in fact, a simple comparison of the minds of the elite, and even fits in our boundaries of what we consider politicians to this day. haha I swear, that is my sentence to make sure everyone is listening. If they are, I get the "what the hell are you talking about" look! It was an agonizing semester, btw. (:
6.)Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in male or female characters?
The first quality I look for in a wonderfully written male character is, is he difficult? I love the pain-in-the-ass male character; cocky, arrogant, jackass tendencies. With a deeply hidden sensitive side. I love a male that falls apart with a girl, but he can't be overly cheesy or sappy. He has to keep that edge that made us fall for him in the first place! He also has to be able to make me laugh, I am thoroughly fluent in sarcasm, and my male character has to be too!
As for a female character, I look for the bad ass. The girl that isn't afraid to stand up for herself or the people she cares about. But she cannot be too hard; she has to have that sensitive side or she will just seem cold-hearted. There is a fine line there that authors tend to have a hard time balancing. A huge plus for a sense of humor!
7.)Envy: What books would you most like to receive as a gift?
The Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins were all just printed in paperback, and they are pretty expensive. I would absolutely love to receive a copy of the first three books in this series. They are wonderfully erotic, sexy, and full of those male fae hormones. Sigh. The books that I appreciate as gifts are mostly from Indie authors, as they are rare to find on used bookstore sites. Randi Cooley Wilson has an amazing series out called The Revelation Series that I would love to have a copy of. The Splintered Series by A.G. Howard are also absolutely beautiful books, although I have already read them, I would love to have a physical copy of those books. The covers are to die for!
