First there are nightmares.
Every night Ellie is haunted by terrifying dreams of monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her.

Then come the memories.
When Ellie meets Will, she feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. On her seventeenth birthday, on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie's power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Only Will holds the key to Ellie's memories, whole lifetimes of them, and when she looks at him, she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.

Now she must hunt.
Ellie has power that no one can match, and her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. But in order to survive the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives and truths that may be too frightening to remember.

The introduction to the Angelfire Series started off a bit slow for me. It felt like I was reading the diary of a high school girl; partying, school, hanging out with friends, etc. I had a difficult time connecting with Ellie, but thankfully, I continued reading. It got a lot more interesting after she began spending time with Will. Will is a wonderfully written character, although he is a little too perfect. The plot was filled with action, gore, and of course, star-crossed romance. Your typical forbidden love, with a few twists thrown in for effect. Ellie is the Preliator- a human with the ability to wield angelfire. She has amazing strength and agility, incredible fighting skills, and deadly weapons that she can summon with a thought. Will is her Guardian, an angelic reaper who protects her, and has protected her through 500 years of human lives and reincarnations. He is always there for her, through all of her lives, to help her fight the demons that only wish to take over the world. Ellie's job is to fight them, but can she really accept this fate? She is only a 17 year old human girl, even with these incredible powers buried inside of her. And she is beginning to have feelings for her Guardian, feelings that are most definitely not going to make spending every day with him an easy task. The story is not the typical angel/demon tale. There was a lot of originality and creative story telling in this book, and after the first 6 or 7 chapters, I completely fell into the story. It was well written, and the twists and turns in the plot were perfect. The secondary characters were also written well, and I instantly fell in love with Cadan for some reason. I love his character, and I would have liked to see Will with a lot more of his characteristics. He was arrogant, sarcastic, and sexy as hell! To wrap up my all over the place review, I did enjoy this book, save for the beginning. Anyone who enjoys the whole, good vs. evil, angels and demons themed paranormal will completely enjoy this series!

"'I hate...,' he started, his shaking voice trailing off. 'I hate when you die. It destroys me. I know I have no right to be so upset, because I'm not the one losing my life, but it breaks me apart inside. I'm not very good with words, and I don't know how to explain to you how I feel. I get lonely when you aren't with me. I miss you. And every time you die, a little piece of me dies with you.'" -Will

"In my horror, my voice dropped to a harsh whisper. 'I can't fight dressed like a sexy nurse!' -Ellie

“I am so sick of you pulling this Batman shit on me!” -Ellie

Life as the Preliator is harder than Ellie ever imagined.
Balancing real life with the responsibility of being Heaven’s warrior is a challenge for Ellie. Her relationship with Will has become all business, though they both long for each other. And now that the secret of who she really is has come out, so have Hell’s strongest reapers. Grown bold and more vicious, the demonic threaten her in the light of day and stalk her in the night.

She’s been warned.
Cadan, a demonic reaper, comes to her with information about Bastian’s new plan to destroy Ellie’s soul and use an ancient relic to wake all the souls of the damned and unleash them upon humanity. As she fights to stay ahead of Bastian’s schemes, the revelations about those closest to her awaken a dark power within Ellie that threatens to destroy everything—including herself.

She’ll be betrayed.
Treachery comes even from those whom she loves, and Ellie is broken by the deaths of those who stood beside her in this Heavenly war. Still, she must find a way to save the world, herself, and her love for Will. If she fails, there will be hell to pay.

Wings of the Wicked began a lot better than the first in the series, thankfully. It picked up right where Angelfire left off, with Ellie and Will battling demon reapers that are being sent to kill them. I enjoyed getting to know the characters better, and learn more of their back stories. Especially Cadan. He is, hands down, still my favorite character! Ellie and Will continue to fight their forbidden love, and it does begin to get tedious listening to Ellie's internal whining about Will's refusal to be with her. I liked that this book was a bit like a treasure hunt, where they are all searching for angelic relics to stop Bastian and his army of demons. The originality of the characters and the story continued. The descriptions of the creatures was wonderful in a disgusting, rotting flesh sort of way. I could picture them in my mind, which probably isn't the greatest thing! I can't say much without giving away spoilers, but this book does have a lot more action and adventure, and twists and turns than the first one. I feel it was a wonderful sequel, although the ending was heartbreaking. I am beyond thankful that I already had the third book on hand when I finished this one. I would have been devastated to have to wait to find out what happens!

"Dragging myself to my feet, I looked up to see the reaper turn back toward me, hate spilling over her ugly face. I tightened my grip on both my sickle-shaped Khopesh swords, and they burst into angelfire, the bright white flames licking up the blades. The light danced across the reaper's features, the sharp highlights and shadows making her appear even more like the Hellspawn that she was. Her black lips pulled back, revealing saber canines as long as my forearm. She snapped her jaws and laughed, grinding her talons into the pavement. 'I'm shocked you're back on your feet after that one, Preliator,' she sneered."

"As much as I hated to admit it, it had been easier to be around him before he'd kissed me that first time. I was a seventeen-year old girl. I wanted to be loved by a great boy, and I was, but I couldn't have him. And it broke my heart."

"'I'm not here to fight,' he said. 'Yeah, right.' I yanked my arm down and shot a knee into his gut. He let out a whoosh of air, and I slammed a palm into his chest, shoving his back into the wall. Tiles cracked and he doubled over. 'Wait,' he pleaded as I curled my hand around his throat and pressed him harder into the wall. My eyes went wide when I recognized him. My spiked adrenaline hadn't allowed me to think straight right away, but I'd know that ethereally beautiful face and pale gold hair anywhere. It was Cadan. He was like a real life version of an ancient Greek statue- except not totally naked. Thank god...or maybe not."

Your strength in heart and hand will fall. . . .
Ellie knows that the darkest moments are still to come, and she has everything to fight for:

She must fight for Will. The demonic have resorted to their cruelest weapons to put Will in mortal danger, and Ellie makes an unlikely alliance to save him and to stop Lilith and Sammael, who seek to drown the world in blood and tear a hole into Heaven.

She must fight for humanity. As the armies of Hell rise and gather for the looming End of Days, Ellie and her band of allies travel to the world’s darkest and most ancient regions in her quest to come into her full glory as the archangel Gabriel.

And Ellie must save herself. Her humanity withers beneath the weight of her cold archangel power, but Ellie must hold tight to who she is and who she loves as she prepares for the ultimate battle for Heaven and Earth.

In this final installment in the Angelfire trilogy, Courtney Allison Moulton brings her dark world of epic battles and blistering romance to a blazing bright conclusion.

This final book in the trilogy was wonderful. I was more than happy to see Will finally do something about his love for Ellie. I was beyond tired of hearing her internal dialogue about his refusal of her love, blah blah! This book had even more action and adventure than the second, and I found myself completely addicted to this story. I don't want to give anything away, but we got to know Cadan a lot better in this book. He was one of the prominent characters and I couldn't have been happier. I hate that he is in love with his brother's girlfriend; she doesn't deserve him in my opinion! The demons are more bold, and unafraid to show themselves to humans, resulting in a lot of people close to Ellie finding out exactly what she is. I found myself crying more than once near the ending, and I was impressed with Ellie's selflessness when the time came to fulfill her destiny. The love between Ellie and Will is phenomenal; it is not the typical teenage girl meets boy and instantly falls in love garbage. It truly was a wonderful love, centuries old, with ups and downs that are completely realistic in a supernatural kind of way! The ending was heartbreaking, but the only way that Miss Moulton could have ended it. Sigh. This was all in all, a well written, original and creative series that I am thankful to have read!

"You will never see the ends of his armies. They blanket the Earth as a storm blankets the sky, but the sun will never rise again.” I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, yeah. You demonic all think you’re Shakespeare. Really nice. Good-bye.” Then I took off her head and the rest of her burned up.”

"“R u ration yet?" "What language is that?" "R U AWAKE" "Much to my extreme dismay. The sun is no friend to my fragile complexion." "Poor baby. Come to my room asap." "It's too early to proposition me, Ellie." "GET OVER HERE?" "So frisky. Give me a minute to get some clothes on. Or should I not...?” -Cadan & Ellie

“All the beasts of Hell knew they couldn't stop me. I was the archangel Gabriel, the Preliator, and they knew that no matter how many times they killed, I always came back to kill them. No matter how much they frightened me, I remembered what Cadan had told me about the stories of me he had grown up hearing. Even demons feared something. The demonic reapers had nightmares of their own, stories they told one another to terrify, a legend that haunted them in their sleep. That was me. I was Hell's nightmare.” -Ellie

A forbidden love will become deeper.
A loyalty will be tested.
And only darkness will remain.

One revelation changed everything, turning Eve Collin’s world upside down. Now, she’s left to struggle with her identity and allegiance. Haunted by grief and tempted by her increasing attraction to her protector, will she ever truly be safe from enemies that refuse to give up?

Restraint is an addictively spellbinding continuation of Eve’s journey of self-discovery, love and sacrifice that will change everything.

I fell in love with the first book in this series, and this one was no different. As soon as I started reading it, I couldn't put it down! Eve is the 'Daughter of Heaven', created by the archangel, Michael for the purpose of redeeming the human race. She is beginning to accept this fact, and what her future holds for her. But Eve is not safe. There are creatures from both sides of the spectrum after her. From gargoyle clans that are supposed to be protectors of the human race, to high level demons, including Lucifer himself. They all want Eve for their own purposes. Thankfully, she has her own clan of gargoyles to protect her. The London clan, consisting of McKenna and her mate Keegan, Callan and his mate Abby, and Asher. Asher St. Michael. The sexiest man.. gargoyle to walk the planet. He is a brooding, cocky pain in the ass. But Eve and Asher share a blood bond- he is her protector and she is completely in love with him. Forbidden love. Gargoyle protectors are not permitted to have romantic relationships with their charges. The punishment is stone petrification- which is a fate worse than death. If the Royal Protector Council were to find out of their relationship, it would become Asher's fate. But they have no intentions of telling anyone outside of the family- it must be kept quiet. Until someone tells. There is a traitor living closely, and no one knows who it is. But is this traitor willing to sacrifice Asher and Eve's lives? And can the family pinpoint the snitch before time runs out for Eve and Asher?

Gah! I can't believe it ended the way that it did. I am heartbroken Miss Wilson. This story is addicting, to say the least. I felt immediate connections to all of the characters- not just Asher and Eve. Asher is the perfect male in my opinion. He is a cocky, arrogant, sarcastic asshole. Sigh. He's my new book boyfriend! His sensitive side only shows with Eve; he is completely in love with her and will sacrifice his own health and happiness to ensure that she is safe. Although he fails a few times in this book, he doesn't let his guilt ruin their relationship. Eve is a strong protagonist. Although she has recently found out that she has no real family, and she was created by Heaven for their own purposes- she handles it well. She is not falling apart, whining or complaining about her hand in life. She deals with everything thrown at her without losing herself- and for that, I have so much respect for her. The other characters all play a huge role in this book, and I felt connected to each of them in some way or another. The world building is good, although most of it was accomplished in Revelations. This story just builds on the world a bit more. The plot line was thick and twisted, deep and dark- I enjoyed the way Miss Wilson took the plot- all except for the END! Ugh! I cannot wait for the third book in this series to be released, as this one ended with the worst cliffhanger possible. This story is well written, thought out thoroughly, and a must read for any urban fantasy or paranormal fan! I highly recommend this one!

Revelations - Book 1 Review
Redemption - Book 3 - Release Date: December 15, 2014

"'I've got you, siren.' His voice has the seal of a promise to it. My chest swells at his declaration and physical presence. Asher brushes the hair back from my face, entangling his hands in the long, light brown strands while searching my eyes. I close them, afraid of what he might find. No one should endure living with death hanging over their head everyday...but this is our reality." -Asher & Eve

"'Eve.' My name softly rolls off his tongue, like a prayer, causing my entire body to flood with need. Gentle hands cup my face as his lips brush across mine in a tease. Once. Twice. On the third touch, they firmly press into mine, devouring me. With every stroke, I cling tighter to Asher's shirt for support. Each caress of his lips causes my blood to rush, filling me with a burning desire, making me feel whole. God, I've never wanted anyone more than him. It's like my soul already knows it's his."

"Asher just inhales and watches me. Then, with great self-control, he says,'So, now, you're with Gage?' 'Yes. In Paris, at his loft.' I study him, watching me. Why is he so composed? Asher's still for a moment longer while he contemplates what I've told him. His eyes roam down me and stop on the blanket before his face morphs into fuming anger. 'WHAT. THE. FUCK. EVE. Where are your fucking clothes?' he shouts in a controlled whisper. Seriously, I've been standing here for like fifteen minutes and he's just now noticing the blanket. I forgot when I project, it's in the items I'm wearing."

Revelation by Randi Cooley Wilson

Revelation
By: Randi Cooley Wilson
Series: The Revelation Series #1
Paperback: 314 pages
Published: May 1, 2014
Self Published
Rated: 4.2 out of 5 Stars

A divine secret, a loyal protector, a forbidden love.
Eve Collins starts her freshman year at college blissfully unaware that one revelation will challenge everything she’s believed to be true about her family, life, and future, and right in the midst of it all is Asher St. Michael.

Mysterious and aloof, Asher is appointed to protect Eve at all costs. Bound by his oath of loyalty to mankind, loving her is forbidden.
Dark and enigmatic, Gage Gallagher may be even more dangerous to Eve than the demonic army that hunts her.

Caught in the middle of a centuries old war, Eve must choose sides knowing that the wrong choice will cost more than just her life.
Can Asher and Eve fulfill their destinies or will their love destroy everything?

This book has been sitting on my TBR shelf for quite a while, but I never got around to reading it. I have no idea why, because it was amazing Miss Wilson! I really enjoyed this story of forbidden love and the ultimate sacrifice. The world building was decent, with a college setting in a small Massachusetts town. The plot line was also pretty good, with a few twists and turns throughout. But the characters were what pulled it all together for me. I instantly found myself in Eve's shoes, living everything through her and sympathizing with her more than I do with most female leads. She is strong, yet not too strong that she appears heartless or cold. Asher is an amazing male character, and the way that she writes him reminds me of the way Jennifer Armentrout writes her males. The stubborn, infuriating, piss-you-off constantly- yet perfect specimen of a male. That is Asher. He is gorgeous, strong, supernatural, closed off- yet Eve is able to undo him and his hardened exterior to find the perfect, gentle man beneath. Sigh. The smaller characters are all wonderful as well. Gage is complex and multi-layered, and I'm thinking he could become an ally further into the series. (Please, no love triangles though Miss Wilson!) Aria, Abby, and even Kenna are all great supporting characters, and they each have different personalities that shine through in this book. I also loved the way that she meshed different supernatural characters together. This book has Fae, angels, demons, gargoyles, hellhounds, and Daughters of Heaven. I honestly cannot wait to read the second one in this series. It is called Restraint and was published at the end of July, 2014.

"Leaning on a classic black Wiesmann Roadster, in the parking lot near Lexington Hall, is a tall, lean, good-looking guy. He's smiling at his fan girl harem. Smoldering hot guy is the type of male that females instantly drop their panties for. No doubt he makes every girl feel as if they're the only one on the planet. Dame if he didn't have the chiseled cheeks and blond scruff along his perfect jawline to solidify the cliche." -Randi Cooley Wilson about Gage

"'I don't know. He just appeared, looking all cunning and surrounded by his fan club,' I say, feigning disinterest but keeping my eyes glued to him, watching his every move with an abnormal curiosity. 'Well, he's YUMMY. I wouldn't mind licking him up and down like a lollipop,' she states with enthusiasm, wiggling her eyebrows. I glance matter-of-factly at her. 'Don't you think the other ten guys you're currently sleeping with would be upset if they saw you licking him in broad daylight, in the quad no less?' 'I'm not sleeping with ten guys.' Aria fakes offense. 'It's only three'. She pretends to sulk. I offer a smug smirk. 'My apologies. I didn't mean to over exaggerate your promiscuity.'-Randi Cooley Wilson - Eve & Aria

"'You're ready'. I shake my head. 'I'm not.' 'You are.' 'What if I don't want it?' 'That's not an option,' Asher reminds me. 'What if I fall?' 'I'll catch you.' 'What if I fail?' 'I won't let you.' 'What if I get hurt?' 'I will protect you always.'"-Randi Cooley Wilson - Asher & Eve

Unchained by J. Lynn - Nephilim Rising book 1

I have apparently been on a Jennifer Armentrout kick lately. I'm ultimately looking forward to Stay With Me coming out September 23!

paranormal book reviews
paranormal book reviews
Between the pissed off creatures that want demon-hunter Lily Marks dead and the fallen angel who just...wants her, Lily is about ready to trade in forever for a comfy job in a cubicle farm.

The fact that she and Julian are civil to one another is enough to have her thrown out of the Sanctuary, but she can't shake her not-so-angelic stalker or how he brings her dangerously close to ecstasy.

Her forbidden relationship with Julian provides the perfect fuel for suspicion when a traitor is discovered to be working within the Sanctuary. Lily quickly finds herself hunted by well, everyone.

Her only hope is to discover the real traitor before she loses everything--and she'll need Julian's help. That is, if Julian is really there to help her...and not destroy her.

Yeah, being a Nephilim isn't everything it's cracked up to be.

paranormal book reviews
Well.. this is one of the first books ever written by Jennifer, so I wasn't hoping for much. Although it was way better than I thought it would be! I really enjoyed this story. I never found the connection to Lily, but Julian was a well written character. A fallen angel that isn't evil, and is in love with a Nephilim. He is a well rounded, complex- not to mention- swoon worthy specimen of a book boyfriend. I really continue to be awed at the perfection that Jennifer writes male characters. The world building is well done, with the Nephilim having a private governmental building in our nation's capital. I wasn't impressed with the names of the supernatural creatures- deadheads and minions- and they were pretty cheesy all in all. The story line was typical for an angels vs. fallen angels type of story, but there were definitely twists and turns that I was not expecting. Especially the ending- was not expecting who the traitor turned out to be at all, so thanks for the epic plot twist Jennifer! Michael was another twist that I saw coming, yet was still surprised at the actual outcome. I am hoping Jennifer continues this series, but I haven't heard anything about a release date for the next in the series. I really did enjoy this book, and would recommend it to anyone that loves Jennifer Armentrout's writing style.
