I ended up staying up all night to finish this book after I started it. I really enjoyed the story, I think I needed something quick and fast and fun to read after going through the whole Harry Potter series! And this book was a quick read; the plot kept me interested and I really enjoyed the characters. I liked the mystery of it all. It felt almost like a treasure hunt, sans Dan Brown or even The Raven Cycle. The world building was done well— I loved the idea of a hidden realm beyond ours. One that is unknown to humans but quite similar to our own. The main location is a rural Virginia farm and I felt a connection to our main character having grown up on a farm myself!

Lotty is a hard working, intelligent female lead, although some of her decisions were questionable. I guess that’s what it’s like to be a hormone-filled 17 year old girl; common sense goes out the window when dealing with the opposite sex. Especially ones as sexy and mysterious as Roah, our male lead. His mysterious nature only deepens throughout the story and I found myself falling for him as well! The romance was written well, although there were a few cheesy parts. Don’t judge — we all need a little cheese in our lives every now and again!

All in all, I loved this story! It was fast-paced and kept my interest from the first page. The ending is awful though. The cliff hanger broke my heart a bit! No worries though— the second book JUST released on June 30th and I will be getting my hands on it ASAP!
